80-Year-Old Woman Fatally Shot While Trying to Break Up Fight

In a heartbreaking turn of events, an 80-year-old woman lost her life while attempting to intervene in a heated altercation between her son and his wife.

The woman, identified as Wuni Tuunaaba, was reportedly shot and killed by her son during the incident.

The incident occurred last Thursday in Guabulga, a town located in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region. According to reports, tensions escalated between Wuni Haruna, the son, and his wife around 7 pm. In an effort to restore peace, Haruna’s mother intervened.

Tragically, Haruna retrieved a firearm from a nearby room in the midst of the altercation and fired a fatal shot at his mother. The unintended consequences of the single-barrel gun resulted in the loss of her life. The incident has left the community in shock and mourning.

Upon receiving a distress call, Bugri Gabriel, the Assembly member of the Guabulga Electoral Area, rushed to the scene. He confirmed the devastating incident and expressed deep sorrow over the tragic outcome. Gabriel revealed that Haruna claimed he had intended to fire a warning shot, but tragically, the bullet struck his mother instead.

The police have taken Wuni Haruna into custody to aid in the ongoing investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, in accordance with Islamic traditions, Wuni Tuunaaba has been laid to rest.
