The Black Stars of Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by Niger in their second game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Monday, September 9, in Berkane, Morocco.
Despite making some changes to the lineup that lost to Angola in their previous match, Otto Addo’s team struggled to secure a win, leaving them with only one point from their first two qualifiers.

Alidu Seidu opened the scoring for Ghana in the 44th minute with a swerving shot, giving the Black Stars a 1-0 lead going into halftime. Inaki Williams had an early chance to break the deadlock in the first minute, but his header was saved by the Niger goalkeeper. Ghana continued to push for a second goal, with Mohammed Kudus and Williams both coming close, but they were unable to extend their lead.
In the 80th minute, Oumar Sako equalized for Niger after a scramble in Ghana’s box, securing a point for the Mena. Despite some late pressure from Ghana, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The result means Ghana has just one point from their first two games in the qualifiers, putting pressure on them to secure victories in their remaining matches to qualify for the 2025 AFCON.
