Ghana’s Black Princesses secured their spot in the semifinals of the women’s football tournament at the ongoing African Games after a thrilling victory over Tanzania. The match, held at the Cape Coast Stadium on Tuesday night, saw Ghana emerge victorious with a 2-1 comeback win.
It was Tanzania that initially took the lead in the game, courtesy of a splendid strike by Aisha Juma Mnunka from Simba FC, finding the back of the net in the 22nd minute. The goal came after a swift breakaway from their own half, catching Ghana’s defense off guard.

However, the Black Princesses rallied back strongly in the final 10 minutes of the first half. Their efforts were rewarded when Comfort Yeboah delivered a superb cross into the box, met by Tracey Twum, who equalized just before halftime.
In the second half, Yusif Basigi’s side continued to dominate proceedings, putting pressure on Tanzania’s defense. Their persistence paid off when Twum played a key role in setting up Mukarama Abdulai for the winning goal with a delicate finish past the Tanzania goalkeeper.
With this victory, Ghana solidified their position in the tournament and will now face Uganda in their last group game on March 15. The Black Princesses’ resilient performance reflects their determination to compete at the highest level and vie for success in the African Games.
