Prolific songwriter and Grammy Award-winning artist, Wizkid, is mourning the loss of his mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, who reportedly passed away in the early hours of Friday, August 18, 2023.
The manager of Starboy, Sunday Are, confirmed the sad news, stating, “Mrs. Balogun passed away this morning, around 1:30 am in the early hours of Friday.”
The late Mrs. Balogun was not only Wizkid’s mother but also the parent of two other children, Yetunde Balogun and Lade Balogun.
Wizkid’s deep and meaningful bond with his mother has been evident throughout his music career, as he consistently expressed his strong love and attachment to her.
Mrs. Dalopo Jane Balogun, initially uncertain about Wizkid’s chosen path in the music industry and understandably concerned when he left school, experienced a remarkable change of heart as she witnessed her son’s achievements flourish into reality.
As of now, Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, has not yet publicly expressed his reaction to the passing of his mother.
