Agenda 111: Ghana Aims to Transform into a Medical Care Center by 2030 – Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has stated his definite intention to commission a significant number of Agenda 111 hospital projects in 2024, marking the culmination of his administration’s efforts.

The President provided an update at the annual Physicians and Surgeons Awards, noting that work is currently underway on 86 district hospitals, two regional psychiatric hospitals, and the western regional hospital, with varied degrees of completion.

Out of the 89 projects, the average completion percentage is 52%, with several locations getting close to 70–80% completion.

In addition to highlighting the continuing development of essential healthcare facilities, President Akufo-Addo also presented his larger vision. By 2030, he hopes to establish Ghana as the epicenter of superior healthcare in West Africa.

“Thus far, the construction of 86 district hospitals, two regional psychiatric hospitals, and the western regional hospital are ongoing which are all at various levels of completion. The average completion rate of the 89 projects is 52 percent. With work at some of the sites at 70 to 80 percent complete.

“Beyond the building of these new healthcare facilities, my vision is to help make Ghana the centre of excellence of medical care in West Africa by 2030, Leveraging on Ghana’s favourable status as the most peaceful country in the West Africa sub-region, a beacon of democracy and a land of opportunities.”

The President envisions a global healthcare system by utilizing Ghana’s standing as the most peaceful nation in the West African subregion, a stronghold of democracy, and a land of opportunity.

The goal of President Akufo-Addo’s administration’s Agenda 111 project is to close deficiencies in the country’s healthcare system.
As part of the overall effort, 101 district hospitals in underserved areas, 2 mental hospitals, 7 regional hospitals, and the renovation of the Accra mental Hospital are all being built.
