Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change (M4C) and Dr. Abu Sakara Foster’s National Interest Movement (NIM) have jointly announced the successful completion of discussions with various political entities to form a grand alliance for the upcoming 2024 General elections.

In a press release issued on Thursday, April 4, M4C stated that the alliance seeks to challenge the longstanding dominance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghanaian politics.

The statement emphasizes that both major parties have failed to adequately address the nation’s fundamental developmental issues, particularly the recurring lack of continuity in government projects.

The alliance contends that the prevailing shortcomings cannot be allowed to persist, underscoring the need for a fresh governance approach focused on sustained national development and progress.

“The Alliance aims to disrupt the entrenched dominance of the NDC-NPP duopoly, which, after 32 years in power, has failed to tackle Ghana’s fundamental development challenges. The polarizing nature of Ghanaian politics, the ‘Winner takes all’ mentality, and the lack of project continuity associated with the duopoly have inflicted significant hardships on the people of Ghana,” the statement reads.

“The Alliance will strive to establish an all-inclusive Government of National Unity, comprising representatives from political parties, the business community, farmers, fishermen, labor unions, faith-based organizations, traditional authorities, civil society organizations, academia, media, and other stakeholder interest groups. Additionally, the Alliance will foster consensus-building toward a National Development Plan that transcends party manifestos and serves as the blueprint for Ghana’s economic transformation,” it continues.
