Alan Kyerematen Pledges 50% Youth Representation in Appointments

Alan Kyerematen, the founder and leader of the Movement for Change, has expressed his commitment to giving young people significant representation in his administration if he wins the presidency on December 7th.

He has stated that young people would make up 50% of his selections.

Kyerematen believes that having young people in leadership positions will bring about fresh perspectives, innovation, and creativity. He sees it as an opportunity to open doors and create an environment that fosters the growth and development of the upcoming generation of Ghanaian leaders.

To empower young people and prepare them for leadership roles, Kyerematen aims to establish avenues for business opportunities and mentoring.

In a Facebook post, he reflected on his experience as a young person assuming leadership roles, saying, “At the age of 22, I became a manager of UAC, now Unilever Ghana Limited, marking the start of a journey that molded my vision for Ghana. I quickly rose through the ranks and discovered the importance of tenacity and creativity.

He said that he learned the value of inclusive governance from his work in the public and corporate sectors, and that by having young people in leadership roles, “we can harness fresh perspectives and foster innovation.”

Building on his work with Empretec and Enterprise Africa, the former minister of trades also highlighted his ambition to offer mentorship and entrepreneurship opportunities for the upcoming generation of Ghanaian leaders, in addition to highlighting the importance of representation.

He continued, saying that “together, we can build a future where every Ghanaian has the opportunity to thrive” and that he is dedicated to supporting the country’s youth.

Mr. Kyerematen emphasized his preparedness to guide Ghana into a new age of wealth and advancement with the support of the people of Ghana.
