The Transition Team of President-elect John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to public officials against yielding to pressure from outgoing political actors to engage in unauthorized activities, such as last-minute recruitments, payments, transfers, and promotions.
This caution follows an agreement reached during the second meeting of the Joint Transition Team on December 13, 2024, which stipulated that such actions require the team’s approval.
However, the Mahama Transition Team has accused the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration of continuing these activities in defiance of agreed protocols.
In a statement released on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the Transition Team declared that any unauthorized actions, including backdated recruitments, promotions, or financial transactions, would be reversed once the new government assumes office. Furthermore, public officials found responsible for such actions would face accountability measures.
“For the avoidance of doubt, all public officials are strongly cautioned to resist pressure from outgoing political actors to engage in these acts as they could attract severe consequences when the new government takes office,” stated Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for the Mahama Transition Team.

The team emphasized its commitment to ensuring a smooth and transparent transition process and urged all stakeholders to adhere strictly to established guidelines. This approach is aimed at fostering accountability and maintaining the integrity of the transition.
