Arrest Made in Connection with Shooting of Soldier in Kasoa

In response to the tragic shooting incident that resulted in the death of a soldier in Kasoa, the Ghana Police Service has made a significant breakthrough by apprehending a suspect believed to be involved in the crime.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, around 4:20 pm, sent shockwaves through the community of Millenium City, Kasoa. According to preliminary investigations conducted by the Police, the suspect, identified as Benlord Ababio, is alleged to have shot the soldier, resulting in fatal injuries.

The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed pending family notification, was rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa for urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, despite efforts by medical personnel, the soldier succumbed to his injuries.

In a statement released on Wednesday, May 1st, the Ghana Police Service reaffirmed their commitment to swiftly apprehending the perpetrator(s) involved in the heinous act.

“Preliminary Police investigation has established that the suspect, Benlord Ababio, allegedly shot the soldier at Millenum City Kasoa,” the statement read.

Benlord Ababio, identified as the prime suspect in the shooting, is currently in police custody, cooperating with investigators to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident. The arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation, offering hope for justice for the victim and closure for their family.

Moreover, the Police have emphasized their close coordination with the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces, given the involvement of military personnel in the tragic event. This collaboration underscores the seriousness with which the case is being pursued.
