Former Ghanaian national football team captain Asamoah Gyan recently expressed his admiration for former Black Stars coach Claude Le Roy, crediting him for his exceptional coaching skills and the positive impact on his career.
Gyan acknowledged the role of Jones Attuquayefio, the Ghanaian coach who initially identified his talent while at Liberty Professionals, instilling confidence in him and helping him reach the highest level in football.

However, Gyan highlighted Claude Le Roy’s coaching approach as particularly influential, emphasizing that Le Roy created a supportive environment within the team.
Speaking during a media engagement, Gyan praised Le Roy for assigning clear roles to players and providing them with the confidence to excel on the field. He described Le Roy as his favorite coach, noting their compatibility in coaching style and the trust Le Roy placed in his abilities.
Claude Le Roy notably gave Gyan his African Cup of Nations debut in 2008 during his tenure as the Black Stars’ manager. Under Le Roy’s guidance, Ghana achieved a commendable third-place finish in the 2008 AFCON tournament.
