The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to prioritize faith-based organizations should he emerge victorious in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

He highlighted the significant role of churches and Islamic groups in the nation’s development, particularly in constructing schools and hospitals.

Dr. Bawumia stressed that these organizations have made substantial contributions to Ghana, surpassing many external development partners, and should be considered as key development partners.

During a breakfast meeting with clergy members and Imams in the Eastern Region, as part of his nationwide campaign tour starting from Akropong, Dr. Bawumia emphasized his intention to provide incentives to faith-based organizations to assist the government.

He noted that while external development partners receive various incentives such as duty-free imports, their contributions do not match those of faith-based organizations.

Dr. Bawumia aims to establish a closer relationship between the government and faith-based organizations, acknowledging the significant impact they have made in Ghana through the construction of schools and hospitals.

He envisions ushering in a “golden age” of collaboration between the government and faith-based organizations by offering them incentives to support governmental initiatives.
