Hiplife icon Okyeame Kwame has refuted claims of receiving payment to join the manifesto committee of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Okyeame Kwame is part of the NPP’s Manifesto Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, along with other notable individuals.
In a statement, Okyeame Kwame clarified that despite being on the committee, he has remained non-partisan and apolitical throughout his career. He emphasized that he has not been paid by the Vice President’s campaign team to be a member of the committee, and he has not officially been invited on his terms as a non-partisan participant.
While expressing gratitude for being considered for his expertise and knowledge, Okyeame Kwame stated that he is open to providing policy opinions for the advancement of arts and culture in Ghana to any political party, whether NPP, NDC, CPP, Independent, or others.
He concluded by affirming his commitment to Ghana and remaining a consummate professional, welcoming opportunities to contribute to the development of the country’s arts and culture industry without political bias.
