A building at Ada Magazine in the New Juaben South in Eastern area collapsed during a downpour, killing a 5-year-old girl.
The two siblings, a 5-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy, were in the bedroom as their mother was preparing food in the kitchen when the rear of the concrete block chamber and hall room in the compound house suddenly collapsed on them.
Diana Labotey, the mother of the two children, claims that the boy was trapped under the debris while the girl’s head was crushed by the concrete wall, instantly killing her.
He was saved, but not before suffering critical wounds.
Both casualties were taken by ambulance to the Eastern Regional Hospital, where it was determined that Kukua Esther, a kindergarten student, had died but that the child had been admitted for treatment.

According to medical professionals, he is healing.
“The children were standing behind me in the kitchen but I noticed there were feeling cold so I asked them to go into the room. So after 10minutes I heard a loud sound so I rushed into the room and noticed the back of the building has collapsed on the children. The head of the girl was badly damaged so when we rushed them to the hospital she was pronounced dead but the boy is still at the hospital,” the bereaved mother narrated.
In anticipation of a more thorough police inquiry, the deceased girl’s body has been left at the mortuary.
Amina Monica, an eyewitness and fellow resident of the same house, described the incident and claimed that the structure collapsed at around 3 p.m. after a heavy downpour just after she exited her restroom.
