As part of their preparations for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship in 2023, the Black Galaxies, Ghana’s locally based national team have scheduled friendly matches against Algeria and Mozambique (CHAN).
The Black Galaxies will face Algeria at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers on Saturday, January 7th, 2023, followed by a friendly against Mozambique three days later, also in Algiers before facing Madagascar in Ghana’s first group match on January 15, 2023.
Coach Annor Walker’s team arrived in Algiers on Tuesday, January 3, after camping for over a week in Egypt. He will use these matches as final warm-ups for the tournament, which kicks off on January 13 in the North African country.
The Ghanaian delegation will be based in Algiers, where they will hold training sessions before traveling to Constantine to play their group stage games.
Ghana will begin their campaign on January 15 against Madagascar before facing Sudan and defending champions Morocco in their group games.
After an eight-year absence, the Black Galaxies are returning to the CHAN tournament. The Galaxies are making their first appearance in the competition since finishing as silver medalists in the 2014 CHAN tournament, where they were defeated on penalties by Libya.
