Following the payment of their unpaid bonuses, the black galaxies are motivated to defeat Sudan in their CHAN tournament matchup today, January 19th.
From the 2023 CHAN qualifications, the black galaxies were due some unpaid bonuses. By defeating Benin and Nigeria, the black Galaxies were able to earn a spot in the competition being held in Algeria.
A meeting was held with the team after defeat to Madagascar, Evans Opoku Bobbie said,“The Honorable Minister of Youth & Sports Hon Mustapha Ussif has asked me to encourage you to fight on and qualify for the next stage of the tournament’
“The nation is still behind you and we are confident you can make it”
“As a way of motivating you, government has fulfilled all outstanding entitlements due to the team and we are also ready redeem all promises when you make it to the next round”.
He also urged the players to put Sunday’s defeat behind them and concentrate on the tasks at hand.
“Don’t be discouraged. You have an opportunity to correct what happened the last time”.
“The nation has confidence in you. In life we all make mistakes but what is ahead of us is most important.”
The deputy sports minister, Evans Bobie Opoku reassured the players that they could expect their bonuses soon before their final group match against Sudan.
He said: “The cheques I promised you are with the FA and the accountant has done all the cheques. The per diem is also ready. So in terms of motivation and what have you, like I said the president has ordered the Ministry should do everything possible, so what is do you is paid.”
He went on to say; “Going into the Sudan game, I have a strong belief that you will make it.”
After losing their first game, the Black Galaxies of Ghana’s chances of moving on to the knockout round are in doubt.
The black Galaxies will lock horns with Sudan in a must-win encounter at 7 p.m. on January 19th today.
