CLOGSAG Calls Off Strike

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has called off its strike after a productive meeting with government representatives.

The decision follows talks with the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on July 12, 2024.

In a statement, CLOGSAG highlighted that both parties showed a commitment to resolving issues related to the salary structure for civil service and local government staff. The statement read:

“The Government of Ghana, represented by the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on one hand, and the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) on the other hand met on 12th July 2024.

The Parties showed commitment towards the resolution of pertinent issues relating to the salary structure for the Staff of the Civil Service and the Local Government Service.”

CLOGSAG noted that the government has assured the finalisation of the salary structure process by October 31, 2024, with implementation set to begin on January 1, 2025.

Based on this agreement, CLOGSAG has agreed to call off the strike with immediate effect.
