Ghanaian sports journalist Saddick Adams has voiced support for maintaining the betting tax rather than scrapping it, as proposed by former President John Mahama.
During a town hall meeting in the Volta Region on August 13, 2024, Adams argued that the 10% betting tax, introduced in August 2023, should be used to fund job creation for Ghana’s large unemployed youth population.

He suggested that the tax revenue should be invested in transforming the job market, thereby offering a better alternative for the youth and ensuring that the tax is put to productive use.

Adams stressed the importance of transparency and warned against the misappropriation of these funds, urging that the taxes should not just disappear into corrupt practices but be directed towards tangible improvements in employment opportunities.
