The legacy of a highlife legend is often a sacred thing, but for Akosua Serwaa, the widow of the iconic Charles Kwadwo Fosu, famously known as Daddy Lumba legal action has become necessary to protect her name and the sanctity of her union. In a move that has sent ripples through the Ghanaian entertainment landscape, Serwaa has officially filed a defamation lawsuit at the Kumasi High Court.

This legal battle marks a significant stand against public allegations that have questioned her marital status and the legitimacy of her relationship with one of Ghana’s most beloved musical figures.

The lawsuit names two primary defendants: Victor Kofi Owusu, widely recognized as Abusuapanin Tupac and Alex Kofi Boadi Ampong, also known as Sir Alex.

According to the filed statement of claim, the legal dispute traces back to an appearance by Victor Kofi Owusu on UTV’s popular United Showbiz program on November 29, 2025. During this televised discussion, it is alleged that Owusu made comments suggesting that

the marriage certificate was fake, referring to the German marriage certificate that Akosua Serwaa relies upon as legal proof of her marriage to the late musician.

Serwaa maintains that these assertions are entirely untrue and deeply damaging, as they "cast doubt on her marital status and the legitimacy of an official German civil-status document".Seeking justice for what she describes as alleged defamatory comments, Akosua Serwaa is pursuing several legal reliefs through the Kumasi High Court. Chief among these is a formal declaration from the court that the statements made against her were indeed false and defamatory.

Furthermore, she is seeking a staggering GH₵3 million in general and aggravated damages, or any other amount the court deems appropriate given the circumstances. Beyond the financial compensation, the widow is asking for a court order to restrain the defendants from making any further publications regarding these allegations. She is also demanding that the defendants issue a public retraction and a formal apology to mend the reputational harm caused by the broadcast.

The GH₵3 million lawsuit filed by Akosua Serwaa serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of factual accuracy in public discourse. By seeking a legal remedy for the claims made against her German marriage certificate, the widow of Daddy Lumba is defending her personal integrity and her legal status.
