The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced an increase in utility tariffs for the third quarter of 2024, with a 3.02% rise in electricity tariffs and a 1.06% increase in water tariffs. This adjustment will take effect from October 1, 2024.
According to PURC, the decision was influenced by factors such as inflation, exchange rate fluctuations, and the cost of gas.

The commission emphasized that Ghana’s current economic challenges and the living conditions of its citizens were carefully considered during the tariff review. These adjustments will affect all categories of consumers.
The PURC stated, “The Commission’s decision is based on changes in some key parameters, such as inflation rate, exchange rate, and the Weighted Average Cost of Gas (WACOG)… while also considering the competitiveness and sustainability of industries.”
