A group of distraught family members unleashed a violent attack on staff at the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa, Awutu Senya East Constituency, alleging medical negligence resulting in the death of their 17-year-old son.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, around 10:00 PM when the family rushed their unconscious son, Nana Adu, to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Sadly, the young boy succumbed to his condition an hour later.
In the aftermath of the tragic loss, certain family members erupted in anger, causing destruction to hospital property and physically assaulting staff members.

Daniel Hebibor, the father of the deceased, leveled accusations of medical malpractice against the hospital staff, alleging that erroneous medication led to his son’s untimely demise.
However, Dr. Apetogbor Dzedegbe, the Medical Superintendent of the Mother and Child Hospital, vehemently refuted these claims, asserting that the medical team had diligently attended to the boy, exhausting all efforts to save his life, albeit unsuccessfully.
Subsequently, the Kasoa District Police Command intervened, apprehending three individuals from the family for their involvement in assaulting hospital staff. These arrests are part of ongoing investigations into the incident.
