French player Kingsley Coman has been awfully subjected to racist abuse on social media after missing the penalties in the shootout against Argentina at the Lusail Stadium, on Sunday, 18 December 2022.
The Bayern Munich forward came on after 70 minutes and proved to be one of the most crucial players for France in the second half and a huge attacking threat for the team.
His substitution into the game changed the game for France and they began to dominate and put pressure on the Argentine players.
Unfortunately, Coman and Tchuomeni missed their penalty during the shootout, and it was reported to have led to them being racially abused.
Similar incidence happened when England’s Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka were reported to have also suffered racial attacks after missing their penalties in the 2020 EURO final loss to Italy.
The game ended 3-3 draw, and the champion was decided on penalty shootouts.
