Sexual pleasure may appear simple to some, but it is the result of a complicated interaction between the brain, your sexual partner’s relationship and chemistry, correct blood flow, and a delightful sensation in the genitals.
None of the other elements will be enough if you don’t have enough feeling in your penis to enjoy sex.
Trauma, physical disorders, prescription side effects, low testosterone levels, or psychological issues can all cause a decrease or loss of penile sensation. Treatment may include lifestyle changes, medication switching, counselling, or other methods, depending on the cause.
What is penis numbness?
Penile numbness occurs when there is a loss (or considerable decrease) of sensation in the penis, just as it sounds. Penis insensitivity is a term used to describe this problem
The signs and symptoms of penile numbness or decreased penile sensitivity include:
- Loss of sensation in the penis or surrounding areas, like the testicles/scrotum or perineum (area between the testicles and anus)
- Tingling or “pins and needles” in or around your penis
- Feeling coldness or burning in or around your penis
- Bluish or purplish skin on or around your penis
How to get sensation back in your penis
If you have penile numbness, your options for improving the problem will be determined by the reason of the numbness.
Simple lifestyle changes such as improving your nutrition, increasing your daily physical activity, quitting smoking, and reducing alcohol use can improve your overall health and boost blood flow to the penis, which can aid sensitivity. Avoid sitting in one position for long periods of time whenever feasible; instead, take short walks to give the region a break.
You might be able to improve symptoms like diminished feeling and poor sex drive by raising your testosterone levels.
If your penile numbness is caused by a pharmaceutical side effect, talk to your doctor about whether there are any other medications or dosing options. Medical diseases such as diabetes or multiple sclerosis should be handled by your doctor, not only because of your diminished penile sensitivity, but also because these illnesses can damage your entire body and overall health. Any psychological disorders that may be influencing your sexual well-being may benefit from sex therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy.
