The Ghana Education Service says Junior High School graduates who sat for the 2021 BECE for School can dial *899*88# to start the process for their school choices confirmation and verification before Tuesday, February 22, 2022.
The verification and confirmation process, the Service in a statement copied to EducationWeb said forms part of efforts to ensure a smooth computer placement of students into various public second cycle schools across the country.
It said bulk SMS of the Senior High/Technical Schools selected by each 2021 BECE for School student will be sent to the contact numbers or telephone numbers they provided during the school selection process last year.
As part of measures to ensure a successful school placement, GES has urged prospective students partaking in the process to immediately notify other heads of schools of any errors detected in the process for corrections to be made.
“Management wishes to indicate that apart from the bulk messages that would be sent to all contacts, parents and candidates can dial *899*88# and follow the instructions to verify choices made via USSD,” GES noted in the release.
In a related development, the Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Yaw Opoku Mensah has debunked claims indicating the Ghana Education Service has released 2021 school placement.
“Disregard the headline on TV3 online portal. The placement has not been released. GES is only asking candidates, teachers and schools to verify and confirm their choices for smooth placement when the process begins,” he noted.
The Education Ministry spokesman speaking to EducationWeb’s Okyere Darko George on Wednesday said candidates apart from the SMS charges that will be deducted after using the shortcode are not to pay money to any teacher.
The Management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in late February, is expected to release the 2021 BECE for School results of Junior High School (JHS) students who participated in the national examination last year.
