The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued an apology to Ghanaians for the disappointing performance of the Black Stars, who were eliminated in the group stage of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

The statement acknowledges Ghana’s winless run in the tournament, with a loss to Cape Verde and draws against Egypt and Mozambique resulting in only two points.

The GFA expressed regret and accepted responsibility for the team’s subpar campaign, acknowledging that it fell short of the high expectations held by both the association and the public. The apology reflects an acknowledgment of the disappointment surrounding the national team’s early exit from the prestigious continental football competition.
