The Ghana Football Association has expressed strong disapproval of the actions of fans, teams, and officials in response to incidents of misconduct at certain match venues during the past weekend.
Allegedly, supporters of Asante Kotoko caused damage to facilities at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex following a tie against Nations FC. Meanwhile, in Dormaa, fans threw objects onto the field during the match between Aduana Stars and Great Olympics.The GFA has issued a severe caution to those responsible, stating that wrongdoers will face appropriate penalties.
“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) vehemently denounces the acts of violence and misbehavior that transpired at various match locations during the Premier League Matchday 6 fixtures,” as stated on the GFA’s official website.
“In response to the match reports from all venues, the GFA wants to reassure the sports-loving public that significant measures will be taken by the relevant bodies within the GFA, in accordance with the GFA Disciplinary Code and the pertinent Competition Regulations, against those responsible.”The sports judicial procedures and their associated penalties will be rigorously upheld.”
“Clubs, team officials, and fans are hereby underlined the importance of adhering to their obligations to consistently display respectful, sportsmanlike, and tolerant conduct prior to, during, and after all soccer matches.”
“Clubs are strongly encouraged to collaborate with the Association in the effort to educate all stakeholders, including their supporters, about the provisions outlined in the Disciplinary Code and the potential repercussions of their misconduct on the clubs.”
Supporters are also reminded that there are established channels for addressing grievances, and they should permit their club management to officially pursue these processes. “The statement concluded by saying, “The Association extends its appreciation to the security services for their professionalism, dedication, and restraint demonstrated during these incidents.”
“The Association also affirms its commitment to collaborating with the security services to apprehend individuals who violate national laws during matches and facilitate their prosecution within the criminal justice system.”
