Ghana’s national football team has experienced a slight improvement in the recent Coca Cola FIFA ranking, moving up one spot in the global standings.

However, despite their consistent presence in major tournaments over the past two years and their status as four-time African champions, Ghana has yet to break into the top ten teams in Africa according to the ranking.

In the previous ranking released on April 6, Ghana occupied the 60th position worldwide and were ranked 11th on the African continent, accumulating a total of 1396.01 points. The latest ranking, just announced, sees Ghana move up to the 59th position globally.

However, they remain in the same position on the continent as the previous ranking, still ranked 11th. Their accumulated points in the latest ranking stand at 1391.13, a slight decrease compared to the previous evaluation.

While Ghana’s placement in the FIFA ranking indicates some progress, they continue to face stiff competition within Africa, preventing them from breaking into the top ten on the continent.

The team will likely strive to improve their performance and secure better results in order to climb higher in future rankings and enhance their standing both globally and within Africa.

Ghana is now 59th on the FIFA rankings but still 11th in Africa.

Argentina, the reigning world champions, continue to hold the top position in the FIFA ranking. They are followed by France, Brazil, England, and Belgium in the global rankings.

In terms of European rankings, UEFA Nations League runners-up Croatia are ranked sixth, while Spain, the champions, currently occupy the 10th spot.

In Africa, Morocco maintains its leading position, ranked 13th worldwide. The rankings show little change among the top African teams, with Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt following in that order.

Ghana’s most recent match was a goalless draw against Madagascar in Antananarivo during the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

To secure qualification, Ghana will need to defeat the Central African Republic in the final round of matches scheduled for September. The outcome of that match will determine Ghana’s fate in the tournament.
