Ghana to launch online high school next academic year – Education Minister

Minister for Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has announced that Ghana will launch an online high school next academic year, as part of efforts to transform the education system and ensure inclusivity through the Centre for Distance Learning and Open Schooling.

This initiative will enable individuals who have been left behind to enroll online, complete high school, and obtain their certificates.

Additionally, the government plans to establish six new universities by the end of this year: the University of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Akrodie in the Ahafo Region, the University of Engineering and Agricultural Science at Bunso in the Eastern Region.

The University of Health, Agriculture and Life Sciences at Kintampo in the Bono East Region, the University of Mampong in the Ashanti Region, the Local Governance and Leadership University in Accra, and the University for Sports Development.

The Ministry of Education will also launch a Ministry of Education Television station next month to further support educational initiatives. These announcements were made at a forum on the state of Ghana’s education on July 30, 2024, attended by heads of agencies under the Ministry of Education, school heads, directors of education, representatives of development partners, and civil society organizations.
