Ghana’s Chef Smith Becomes New Guinness World Record Holder for Cook-a-Thon

Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith, popularly known as Chef Smith, has been awarded a Guinness World Records certificate for setting a new record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Chef Smith announced this achievement at a press conference at the La Palm Beach Hotel on Tuesday, July 2. His cook-a-thon journey began on February 1, 2024, and lasted for 820 hours, concluding on March 6, 2024, although his initial target was 1,200 hours.

The record certificate states: “The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 802 hours 25 minutes and was achieved by Ebenezer Smith (Ghanaian) in Spintex, Accra, Ghana. From 1 February to 6 March, 2024.

” At the news conference, Chef Smith expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am deeply humbled and honored to announce that I am now the new world record holder for the cook-a-thon.

” Despite facing challenges and not receiving widespread support from Ghanaians, unlike previous attempts by other chefs such as Failatu, Chef Smith’s followers remained confident in his success.
