According to the latest data from the Ghana Statistical Service, there has been a decline in inflation, with the February figure reported at 23.2%.
This indicates a decrease of 0.3 percentage points from the 23.5% recorded in January.
During a press briefing held in Accra on Wednesday, Government Statistician Prof. Samuel Kobina Anim provided a detailed breakdown of the figures, explaining that the 23.2% inflation rate signifies an increase in the prices of goods and services over a one-year period.
“This figure represents a reversal of the slight increase we observed in January 2024 when the downward trend we’ve been experiencing for the past seven months saw a slight uptick to 23.5 percent. Conversely, we have managed to reverse this uptick in January 2024 to a decrease of 23.2 percent.”
According to the Consumer Price Index data released by the GSS, food and non-food inflation rates were recorded at 27.0% and 20.0%, respectively.
“In terms of food and non-food inflation, the figures for February 2024 are as follows: food inflation stood at 27.0 percent, while non-food inflation for the same period was recorded at 20.0 percent.”
