GIA Asserts Mahama’s Superior Ability to Manage Economy over Bawumia

According to the findings of the July 2023 poll conducted by Global Info Analytics, there are indications that the NPP is improbable to exceed two consecutive terms in power.

As per the July polls conducted, approximately 47% of Ghanaians express their trust in John Mahama as the most capable leader to effectively handle the ongoing economic crisis.

The survey results from the July polls indicate that 21% of voters place their trust in Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia’s ability to handle the present economic crisis.

Dr. Bawumia faces a challenging situation as a significant majority of voters who supported President Nana Akufo Addo in the 2020 elections express their intention not to vote for him if he becomes the flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the poll results, out of the 58% of voters who supported President Akufo Addo in the 2020 elections, only 26% of them are inclined to vote for Dr. Bawumia if he were to compete against John Mahama in the upcoming elections.

The poll also reveals that 9% of respondents indicated that they would not vote for either candidate, while 8% stated that they would abstain from voting altogether in the given scenario.

“The data also shows that, even if Dr. Bawumia loses support among Nana Addo’s coalition, he still fails to attract enough support of those who did not vote in 2020 to compensate”

John Dramani Mahama is currently in the lead with 49% of the votes, whereas Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia has garnered 20% of the votes, according to the poll results.

Among the core supporters of John Mahama who voted for him in the 2020 elections, an overwhelming 91% have expressed their intention to vote for him once again in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Only a minority, specifically 7% of the core John Mahama supporters from the 2020 elections, have indicated their willingness to switch their allegiance and vote for Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia in the upcoming 2024 elections.
