The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, has disclosed that the Finance Ministry has obtained €50 million in local funds for the restoration of the La General Hospital.
Due to structural flaws, the hospital was demolished in 2020; however, the reconstruction project has not yet started.
Mr. Agyemang-Manu stated that the Finance Ministry has found a nearby other source of finance for the project during a briefing to the Parliament on Tuesday.
The President gave the Ministers of Trade and Industry, Health, and Finance instructions to discover new financing sources so that the project may be restarted during the 37th cabinet meeting.

The Minister of Finance stated, “Thanks to the efforts of the three-person committee, funds have now been identified locally to continue the project with the same basic work scope but a reviewed price of 50 million Euro.”
The Health Minister announced that procedures were in place to guarantee the contractor’s payment and that construction will shortly get begun in earnest.
On the other hand, the Minister came under fire from the Minority in Parliament for not supplying precise dates for the project’s restart.
The ranking member of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, rejected the Health Minister’s remark, calling it misleading in light of the history of broken promises.
Agyemang-Manu defended the administration in response to these charges, asserting that his assertions were not an effort to mislead the public.
“We took down the building with good intentions, and we don’t intend to deceive anyone,”However, I’m confident that we’ll fight to provide La with the hospital she deserves.
