GRIDCo and ECG regret to inform the public about an upcoming interruption in power supply across Ghana. This disruption is due to a reduction in gas supply from Nigeria, effective Wednesday, June 12th, 2024.
According to the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo), the reduction in gas supply is a result of maintenance activities being conducted by a gas supplier in Nigeria. These maintenance works are expected to span a period of three weeks.

As a consequence of this reduced gas supply, there will be a decrease in Ghana’s overall power generation capacity. This may necessitate load management measures to balance electricity demand during this period.
GRIDCo and ECG are actively collaborating with stakeholders in the power sector to optimize available resources and minimize the impact of this gas supply reduction on consumers.
We apologize sincerely for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding during this period.
