GRIDCo Apologizes for Power Cuts, Blames Major System Disturbance

The Ghana Grid Company LTD (GRIDCo) has informed the public that the recent power outages in Accra and other regions of the country are due to a significant disturbance in their system.

The power interruption occurred on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 2:41 pm when a fault developed on the Accra Central – Achimota Line. This fault led to further disruptions on transmission lines in Aboadze, Kumasi, and Tema.

GRIDCo has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and assured the public that efforts are being made to resolve the issue and restore power to the affected areas. In a press statement signed by the Manager of Corporate Communications Section, Dzifa Bampoh, GRIDCo confirmed that restoration efforts began immediately and are ongoing.

“Restoration commenced immediately, and efforts are underway to restore supply to all affected areas. GRIDCo apologises for the inconveniences caused to all affected consumers,” a portion of the statement read.

The company reiterated its commitment to fixing the problem as swiftly as possible and thanked the public for their patience and understanding during this period.
