Guinness World Records has officially announced the rejection of Afua Asantewaa’s attempt to establish the record for the longest individual singing marathon.
Despite singing for an impressive duration of 126 hours and 52 minutes, her effort fell short of the existing record held by Sunil Waghmare from India.
Afua Asantewaa’s five-day singing marathon at Akwaaba Village in Accra, near the Kotoka International Airport, garnered significant attention and support from fans and showbiz personalities.

Notable figures such as Nana Ama McBrown, Kwabena Kwabena, and Efya joined in the event, making it a memorable moment in Ghana’s entertainment scene.
However, on February 23, 2024, Guinness World Records officially responded, stating that Afua’s attempt to set the record for the longest singing marathon was not successful.
The evidence check had already been carried out, and despite Afua’s request for priority service, she received a refund earlier in the month.
Although her attempt did not secure a place in the record books, Guinness World Records expressed hope that Afua Asantewaa would consider making another attempt in the future. The support and encouragement she received during the event still serve as a testament to her inspiring efforts.
