Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh officiated the swearing-in ceremony of Hon. Herbert Krapa as the new Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, at the Ministry of Energy.
Dr. Prempeh emphasized that Hon. Krapa’s appointment signifies a renewed dedication from the President towards the affairs of the company. He stressed the importance of fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and innovation within the ECG. Recognizing the challenges faced by the company, Dr. Prempeh urged Hon. Krapa to fulfill his duty to ensure the ECG meets its mandate.
“I urge you, Chairman, to reflect deeply on the trust and expectations placed upon you by the President of the Republic. Your foremost duty is to justify this confidence through your actions and leadership. You are acutely aware of the vexed matters and therefore do not doubt that you will, with the necessary support, stem the tide,” he stated.
He encouraged decisive action and exemplary leadership from the new Chairman.
In response, Hon. Krapa, who also holds the position of Deputy Minister for Energy, pledged to lead the ECG with integrity, transparency, and a strong focus on delivering value to the Ghanaian people. He expressed determination to achieve the President’s vision for a robust ECG with the support of the Minister.
This comes after the resignation of the former Board Chair of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Keli Gadzekpo.
