England and Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo has shared his thoughts on the decision-making process he faced when choosing between representing Ghana and England.
The 19-year-old, born in England to Ghanaian parents, had a standout season under United manager Erik Ten Hag, making 32 appearances across all competitions and scoring five goals.

His impressive performances attracted interest from both the Ghana and England Football Associations, ultimately leading Mainoo to choose to represent England. Following his competitive debut for England in their 1-0 Euro 2024 opener against Serbia, he discussed the factors behind his decision.
“Obviously I’m proud of my Ghanaian heritage, and there was speculation and what not, but it has always been a dream to play for England, so I’m happy to be here,” Mainoo said in an interview with Sky Sports. “I considered [playing for Ghana], but I want to play for England.”
