Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently opened up about the profound impact of his late son Ifeanyi’s passing, revealing that the thought of his son still brings tears to his eyes. Ifeanyi tragically drowned at Davido’s Banana Island mansion in October 2022, leaving the artist and his family devastated.
During a heartfelt interview with Omega, Davido shared his ongoing struggle with grief, confessing that he continues to shed tears whenever he remembers the loss of his beloved son. The pain remains raw, and Davido acknowledges the profound impact Ifeanyi’s absence has had on his life.
Many anticipated that Davido’s latest album, titled ‘Timeless,’ would reflect a somber theme due to the tragic event. However, the artist consciously decided to take a different approach, opting for what he calls “bangers” – energetic and uplifting tracks that aim to bring joy to his fans.
Reflecting on his decision, Davido explained, “I look at myself in the mirror and I said apart from it just being about me, I know how many people love me, I know how many people are depending on me. My son up there is looking down at me. Apart from me being strong for his mom, which is my primary responsibility, I have to be strong for the world.”
