Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has expressed strong support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, ahead of the upcoming December 7 election. Gyan believes Bawumia is well-equipped to implement innovative policies and create employable skills opportunities for the youth of Ghana if elected President.

During the “Youth Connect” program in Accra, Gyan highlighted Bawumia’s commitment to youth empowerment and urged young Ghanaians to vote for him. Gyan, who serves as the Chairman of the Bawumia Campaign’s Youth & Sports Committee, also stated that he would hold Bawumia accountable if he failed to deliver on his promises to the youth.

At the event, Gyan invited Bawumia to the upcoming ‘All Regional Games’ on June 29, 2024, at the Babayara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, which aims to identify sports talents in various disciplines.

In response, Vice President Bawumia expressed gratitude to Gyan for his endorsement and reaffirmed his dedication to fulfilling his promises if elected. He highlighted the achievements of the Akufo-Addo-led government in sports infrastructure, including the construction of 150 AstroTurf’s and the initiation of 10 multi-purpose sports complexes nationwide.

Bawumia also reiterated his plan to train one million youth in ICT skills and coding under his administration, emphasizing the importance of preparing the younger generation for a tech-driven future.
