I’ve contacted Burna Boy for a  feature – Mzbel reveals

Ghanaian singer Mzbel has disclosed that her team has been in communication with Nigerian music sensation Burna Boy regarding a potential collaboration.

She expressed confidence that while the collaboration is currently in the initial planning phases, the agreement will be finalized in the near future.

Mzbel shared this update during an interview on the Celeb Biz show, which is broadcast on Joy Prime.

“I’ve always been trying so hard to get Burna Boy to work with. If I get him or not, I’m trying to get Don Jazzy to work with me. So, fingers crossed. My team and theirs are in touch… Hopefully, it’s 70/30 from the way it looks now. So, something from Nigeria and Mzbel may come out soon,” she teased.

Mzbel highlighted several reasons why Ghanaian female musicians encounter difficulties in establishing themselves in the music industry. She noted that female artists tend to engage in collaborations less frequently compared to their male counterparts, despite the industry being predominantly male-dominated.

She also shared her personal experiences of trying to collaborate with other female artists, only to face challenges when they didn’t follow through and participate in the projects. These factors contribute to the unique challenges faced by women in the Ghanaian music scene.

“Mostly, we like to do it solo. I don’t know why. I’ve tried several times to get some girls to work with, and they’ll always give you excuses, but they never showed up. But when you call the guys, they’re willing to come,” she said.

The “Asibolanga” hitmaker is optimistic about the future for female singers, believing that it holds great promise. However, she emphasizes that this potential can be fully realized if female artists come together and collaborate more, akin to how their male counterparts in the industry often do. Collaboration and unity among female musicians can pave the way for a brighter and more successful future for them in the music scene.
