Jean Mensa assures of transparency in December elections

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Jean Mensa, assured Parliament on Friday, July 19, that the EC will maintain transparency in the upcoming December elections. Responding to questions from Members of Parliament, she emphasized the Commission’s commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections.

“From the registration to the declaration, our processes are embedded with one key ingredient, and that is transparency, transparency, transparency. As such we will continue to operate in the spirit of transparency, fairness, and integrity as embedded in our motto,” she assured.

Mrs. Mensa reiterated that all necessary measures are being put in place to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. She pointed out that while the EC is responsible for ensuring exhaustive preparations, the issue of security is the role of other institutions. The EC has introduced rigorous methods for collecting data related to its activities.

Her presence in Parliament followed requests from members seeking to understand the level of the EC’s preparedness for the upcoming polls. Election watchers have highlighted the importance of the 2024 election for Ghana’s sustained peace and tranquillity, stressing the need for thorough preparations to avoid any hitches.
