Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), has called on political parties to accept the results of the 2024 general elections.
Speaking during the presentation of the Democracy Cup to the EC by Parliament’s leadership in Accra on Wednesday, Mensa assured the public of transparent elections and urged political leaders to accept the outcomes.

She likened the EC’s role to that of referees in a football match, emphasizing their commitment to transparency, fairness, and collaboration with key stakeholders, including political parties and citizens.
Mensa reiterated the EC’s dedication to maintaining transparency throughout the electoral process, ensuring all activities leading up to the election are open and fair.
She encouraged all election contestants to accept the results, acknowledging that there will be both winners and losers.
Additionally, Ebenezer Djietror, Deputy Clerk of Parliament in Charge of Corporate and Financial Management Services, highlighted the importance of peace and security during the 2024 general elections.
