KNUST’s Prempeh library catches fire

A fire broke out on the third floor of the Prempeh II Library at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) due to a malfunctioning electrical socket, causing chaos.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and ensured the safe evacuation of everyone from the library. Calm has since been restored, and students have resumed their studies in preparation for the second-semester examinations, starting tomorrow.

This incident comes just 10 days after another fire affected a three-story accommodation facility, “Father Hostel,” at KNUST, which destroyed at least nine rooms and impacted 22 students and three teaching assistants. The outgoing Yvonne-Nkay-led SRC administration provided relief items and temporary accommodation for the affected individuals.
