Capt. (rtd) Prince Kofi Amoabeng, the founder of the now-defunct UT Bank, voiced his belief that the citizens of Ghana made an error in selecting President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to lead the nation.
In an interview with TV3 on November 2, 2023, Kofi Amoabeng acknowledged that he had faced criticism for his previous statement, but he now sees the current situation in the country as a confirmation of his earlier remarks.
He went on to claim that the current Akufo-Addo administration has been so detrimental that it has squandered resources intended for future generations.

In his view, the decision to vote for President Akufo-Addo was incorrect, and the current circumstances, including high taxes, inflation, and rising costs, are a testament to that. He emphasized that the country has depleted its resources and incurred debts that will burden future generations.
Kofi Amoabeng described the current situation as dire, unlike anything experienced in the past. Despite the closure of his bank, he expressed his disapproval of the Akufo-Addo administration and its policies, as he believes the people of Ghana are going through challenging times.
