Rumors have been swirling that veteran broadcaster and “Chairman General” of morning shows in Ghana, Kwame Sefa Kayi, has joined Sompa FM’s Accra section.
Since the beginning of the year, Sefa Kayi has been noticeably absent from his regular hosting duties at Peace FM, leading to speculation about his next career move. Sources within the media industry had suggested that he might have joined Sompa FM, a growing media house that began test transmissions in November 2024 and now operates multiple stations across the country.
Sompa FM, which broadcasts on 106.5FM in Accra, is part of a larger network that includes frequencies in Takoradi (103.3FM), Tarkwa (101.1FM), and Techiman (106.1FM), totaling seven radio stations and two television channels. The network’s rapid expansion signals a bold investment in Ghana’s media landscape, and securing a broadcaster of Sefa Kayi’s caliber would be a major win.
However, in a recent interview, Kwame Sefa Kayi dismissed the speculation, stating that he is currently on leave and has not joined Sompa FM. “There’s no truth to the rumors,” he clarified, urging the public to disregard the reports.
With his statement, fans and industry watchers may have to wait a little longer to see if the Chairman General has any surprises in store regarding his next move.
