A tragic incident occurred at a construction site in Tebu, within the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, where one person was shot dead and three others were injured following an attack by heavily armed land guards.
The attackers demanded a digging fee of GHC 4,000, but the workers informed them that they had already paid a different group of land guards earlier. Frustrated by the refusal to pay again, the armed land guards opened fire, resulting in one fatality and injuries to three individuals.

Survivor Felix Akunnor, who sustained a gunshot wound to his foot, recounted the ordeal to Citi News. He explained that the land guards initially questioned why they were working on the land without paying the fee. Despite explaining that they had already paid another group, the land guards were unsatisfied and called for reinforcements. The situation escalated, leading to the violent attack. Akunnor and his colleagues fled the scene in fear, with four of them, including Akunnor, being hit by bullets.
Assemblyman for the Danchera electoral area, Ebenezer Ahortor, expressed his frustration with the ongoing terror inflicted by land guards in the area. He mentioned that despite numerous complaints to the authorities, including the Danchera police station, little action has been taken due to a lack of resources. Ahortor highlighted the challenges faced by the police, such as the absence of vehicles for patrols, which hampers their ability to effectively combat the menace of land guards.
Ahortor also noted the audacity of the land guards, citing an incident where a military man dedicated to fighting the menace found a coffin at his doorstep. He appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to provide the necessary support and logistics to the local police station to enhance their capacity to address these violent attacks and ensure the safety of the community.
