Former President John Mahama’s vow that the future NDC administration would abolish the Electronic Transactions Act is unachievable, according to suspended NDC member Bernard Allotey Jacobs.
According to Allotey, no political party has effectively repealed or eliminated any tax scheme implemented in Ghana since independence.
“Now that enterprises are paying more for the GETFund, there is no tax regime that will declare this tax will be erased or repealed or use big English to express it,” he continued.
“My greatest issue is Ghanaians’ tendency to trust politicians. “I am a politician and I know what I have done, and sometimes I think I should confess to Ghanaian people,” he stated.
“Jesus Christ will arrive tomorrow and Ghanaians would believe it,” he said, but is that our character?
This can’t be our way of life…
Because they have diluted Ghanaians’ perception of the E-levy, no future administration will be able to remove or repeal it. “No government can come and remove the E-levy which is producing cash for the government,” he said clearly.
