Lionel Messi’s decision to join Inter Miami in America’s Major League Soccer (MLS) has generated significant attention. The 35-year-old football icon, considered by many as the greatest player of all time, has put an end to speculation by confirming his move to the MLS club.

Inter Miami’s social media following has experienced a remarkable surge since the announcement of Messi’s signing. According to USA Today, the club’s followers on various platforms have jumped from around 1 million to 4.5 million after securing Messi’s transfer from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The MLS landscape has witnessed a shift in social media popularity, as LA Galaxy, with 1.4 million followers, previously held the top spot. However, Inter Miami’s acquisition of Messi has propelled them to the forefront in terms of online presence.

PSG, on the other hand, experienced a decline in their Instagram followers following Messi’s departure. Reports indicate that the club’s follower count decreased by at least 800,000 over the weekend, highlighting the impact of Messi’s move on their social media following.

Even before Messi’s move to Inter Miami was confirmed, ticket prices for the club soared in response to the rumors. Data from TickPick, an online marketplace, revealed a significant increase in ticket prices. Within a span of 24 hours, the cheapest available ticket reportedly rose from $29 to $544.

While initial speculation suggested a potential return to Barcelona, Messi expressed his decision to pursue a new adventure in Miami. After winning the World Cup and being unable to rejoin Barcelona, Messi opted for MLS to experience football in a different way and enjoy his day-to-day life.

Messi’s time at PSG concludes with an impressive record, including 32 goals in 75 appearances. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner secured two Ligue 1 titles and one Trophee des Champions trophy during his tenure with the French club.
