Prince Henry, a member of the communication team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has strongly criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, labeling him as the “most dishonest president in the history of Ghana.”

This comment was made in response to the President’s statement that the government would not be able to continue and complete the Saglemi Housing project initiated by the previous John Mahama administration.

President Nana Addo explained that the government would incur more debt if it attempted to complete the Saglemi Housing Project. He expressed that the government is currently facing financial constraints and cannot make further commitments to the project.

The Saglemi housing project, initiated by the NDC under John Mahama in 2012, aimed to address the accommodation deficit in Ghana. However, it has faced delays and challenges, which the current government attributes to corruption and lack of proper planning by politicians.

President Nana Addo revealed that the Saglemi project is now under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Ghana Police Service, leading to criminal judicial proceedings.

During a sod-cutting ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, for the commencement of construction on another affordable housing project located at Pokuase, the President made these statements. The government intends to construct approximately 8,000 units of affordable housing in that project.

“We are aware of the delays and setbacks encountered during the execution of this project.” he stated

In a Twitter post, the NDC communicator said “Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the most dishonest president in the history of Ghana.”
