The National Service Scheme (NSS) has assured its personnel that it will promptly pay them their outstanding allowances. Armstrong Esaah, the Director of Corporate Affairs of the Scheme, stated that the issues causing the delay in payment have been resolved.

In an interview with Selorm Adonoo on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Esaah assured personnel that management has taken all necessary steps to ensure the payment of their allowances. He also apologized for the delay, acknowledging the challenges faced by personnel.

“I think that the issues and the challenges that caused the delay in the payment of their allowances mostly have been cleared, and so we want to assure them that within the shortest possible time payment would be made to clear the January and February,” Esaah said.

“We empathize with them. We understand the plights they are going through. But we want to assure them that management has taken every step it needs to take to ensure that they are paid within the shortest possible time,” he added.

Esaah further appealed to personnel to refrain from rumors of a strike and assured them of the Scheme’s commitment to resolving the issue.

In response, Nana Adu Gyamfi Mensah, the Secretary of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA), declared that the Association would no longer accept excuses from the NSS regarding the delayed payment of allowances. He demanded a specific payment date for the three months of arrears owed to members, following earlier threats of industrial action if the allowances were not promptly paid.
