Shalimar Abbiusi, the spokesperson for the political movement New Force, was deported to her home country of Belgium, a decision that sparked allegations of harsh treatment and abuses of human rights.
On Tuesday, the state withdrew the case of acquiring a student permit with false declaration, and she was deported after being arrested again.
Her attorneys claimed that the charge was dropped because the Ghana Immigration Service was attempting to deport her. However, the service had clarified that her fate was still up for consideration.

However, Ms. Abbiusi’s primary attorney, Francis Xavier Sosu, who verified her departure, called the manner of her expulsion an assault to her fundamental human rights in an interview with Citi News.
“I picked information that sometime last night, she was being escorted to board the Brussels Airline to Belgium. But clearly, this is so shameful and disgraceful.
“Because she was not deported from Ghana and there was no deportation order by the Minister but an Executive Instrument. So holding her and even denying her access to her lawyers and even her Family and escorting her with men in uniform was a violation. When you revoked the person’s visa and said that leave our jurisdiction within 24 hours, she could move from Ghana to Togo. She has the Liberty to move anywhere else that she can go.”
